We have many guides, articles, ideas ..etc on how should a LinkedIn profile be. What it should have and what it should not have. I guess, the columns LinkedIn asks us to fill in the profile page itself directs us to have what all we should have in a online professional networking site in predefined structure. But, there is also a specific column called Summary which is left for us to shout out to the world in 2000 characters.
I would like to put my view on what is summary? Why is it important? what should it have?
1. It is blank white sheet where you can play with words to establish yourself as how you want the reader to perceive you.
2. It is place where you write your story of what you do and why you do. It is place where you can differentiate yourself.
3. It is place where you can tell about passions and working style. That helps to establish an impression on your work culture.
4. It is place where you can explain your achievements with out bragging about them.
5. It is place where you can tell what you did, what you want to do, why you want to do and how you will do.
6. Basically it is place where, you have to pitch about yourself when your reader/listener have maximum upto 60 sec time to know about you.
7. Put all the info you are comfortable with, that information which you might want to tell orally when you speak with some one introducing yourself.
8. Remember first impression is the best impression.
Join us for tonights #RubhuSocial chat on Twitter to discuss about LinkedIn. It is open mic conversation. http://bit.ly/1wBwMrM ( 28th Oct Tuesday)
